Cards for various occasions

Facilities Management has a small selection of cards available for various occasions (birthdays, weddings, etc.). Please note, that this service is only available for Home Office employees. If necessary please contact FM/Archiv-Bibliothek directly.

Art cards

In the Home Office "Art cards" can be ordered from the secretaries' offices using the "Materialbestellung intern Karten" form. For further information please have a look in the intranet under the following link: Intranet Art Cards.

Christmas/seasonal cards

Corporate Communications is responsible for providing a printed Christmas card for the Home Office and an electronic Christmas card for all Group companies.

Electronic Christmas card

As creating and distributing electronic Christmas cards is very time-consuming and expensive, only Corporate Communications is authorized to create this kind of Christmas card for all staff (world-wide). The electronic Christmas card is distributed Group-wide and should be used by all subsidiaries, branch offices, service companies and representative offices within the scope of the permitted tailoring options (logo/claim, personalisable texts). No other electronic cards should be created.

Printed charity (Christmas-)cards and printed cards with seasonal greetings

As we want to highlight the charity aspect of our printed Christmas cards, we at Home Office usually use Christmas cards from the Unicef standard selection which come with set motifs and which we have printed with our logo and an individual greeting in the HR company typeface. In this particular context we attach lower priority to our Corporate Design than to the charity intention and encourage all local companies that would like to send their customers printed Christmas cards or other seasonal cards to give preference to cards with a charity background and to customise them with their own logo and greeting text.

Logo and greeting text are positioned on the inside of the card in line with the following layout:

Example 1

DIN A6, portrait format: original size: 105 × 148 mm (open: 210 × 148 mm)

  1. The logo is placed in the bottom right-hand corner. The size (A) and the distance from the edge (B/C) are taken from the format series (see table below, here: DIN A6 = 6 mm logo height, 7 mm from border). If a non-DIN format is used, the nearest format should be chosen. The logo is used in the standard version.
  2. The right inside half of the card is divided into a grid of 15 columns and twelve lines with spacing depending on the format. The text area is between the third and tenth lines. The margin at the left is one column wide, at the right two columns. The text may be placed anywhere within this area but should be as close to the top left as possible and progress downward. If just a few words, formats T1 and T2 (for text hierarchies see below) should be used (see example 1); longer tests are set in continuous text format with headlines in H3 (see example 2).

Non-charity printed (Christmas-)cards and cards with seasonal greetings

If individual subsidiaries, branch offices, service companies or representative offices are not able to use cards from charity organisations, they may design a printed card of their own. In this case the layout must be done via an agency chosen and supervised by the ordering entity itself. The design must comply with the following mandatory CD guidelines:

All greeting card layouts may be adapted to international format conventions and used in portrait, landscape and square formats. Two versions are permitted:

  1. card with image
  2. plain card

The inside of both versions is structured according to the same pattern. It is the same as that described above for charity cards, except that there is no logo, as this already features on the outside.

Some examples of inside layouts:

This card shows a picture on the outside. Apart from the logo there are no further elements present.

Example 3

shows the card described below in DIN A6 portrait format.
DIN A6, portrait format: original size: 105 × 148 mm (open: 210 × 148 mm)

  1. Background: The card shows a full-area photo – either across the entire front and back sides (examples 3 and 6) or on the front side only (examples 4 and 5). The choice of photo should comply with the criteria for the Group image concept. The no-gos defined there are ruled out here, too.
  2. Logo: The logo is placed at the bottom right of the front side in accordance with the dimensioning matrix, see example 3. Dimensions A, B and C are taken from the format series (see above). In example 4 (DIN A6) the logo is 6 mm high and 7 mm from the right and bottom. Depending on the background and better legibility, the logo is used in 4c or white.

Plain cards

These cards are coloured over the entire outside area. Besides the logo they feature a greeting text above a speech bubble pointer. Example 7 shows the card described below in DIN A6 portrait format. Example 8 shows the corresponding version for format DIN long, landscape, example 9 shows the format DIN A6 landscape, example 10 shows a square format.

Example 7

Original size: DIN A6, 105 × 148 mm (open: 210 × 148 mm)

  1. Background: The background is coloured over the full area in HR blue, HR cyan or HR warm grey (30 or 100%).
  2. Logo: The logo is placed at the bottom right of the front side in accordance with the dimensioning matrix, see example 7. Dimensions A, B and C are taken from the format series (see above). In example 7 (DIN A6) the logo is 6 mm high and 7 mm from the right and bottom. It is used in white, except on HR warm grey (30%), where the 4c version is used.
  3. Speech bubble line and text: The card is divided into a grid made up of 15 columns and twelve lines as described above. The space for the text and the speech bubble line lies between the third and tenth lines with a margin of one column from the left and two columns from the right. The two elements can be placed anywhere within this area. The area is shown lighter here for easier viewing only, but this is not a design element. The speech bubble line is white (except on HR warm grey in 30%, where it is HR blue), the line thickness is dimension D from the format series (here: DIN A6 = 3 pt). The width of the line depends on the text.

The font is set in format T2 (see Text hierarchies). The text block progresses upward (not more than four lines) with a bottom gap of dimension A from the format series (A = logo height); the left indent is 1/2 A.
